Jeevamrutam is fermented microbial culture prepared from dung and urine of Indian cow. This is used in organic farming/gardening to meet the nutritional requirement of crops and plants.
Jeevamrutam is prepared using Indian cow dung, urine, jaggery, pulse flour and virgin soil from bund. The ingredients is mixed with water in plastic container. The mixture is kept for fermentation under shade for 2 days and stirred in clockwise direction two times a day with a wooden stick. During this fermentation process, the aerobic and anaerobic bacteria present in cow dung and urine multiply by consuming pulse flour. The soil from bund added to the mixture act as inoculant of native species of microbes.
Jeevamrutam acts as catalytic agent that promotes essential microorganisms in the soil. It also increases earthworm activity.
