The glycemic index value of sugarcane jaggery is 60. The glycemic index of sugarcane jaggery is higher compared to palm jaggery. Those who are diabetic and following a weight loss diet should monitor their sugar levels when consuming jaggery.

The unrefined jaggery will be mostly dark in color. The yellow or gold-colored jaggery available in the market may be chemically processed.
