Aphids is a sucking pest commonly found on plants of beans family. Aphids migrate long distance mainly through wind.

Aphids will be very soft to touch and found in green, brown and black colors. Aphids are found on the stem, under the leaf, fruits, flower.

Plants affected by aphids shows different symptoms like stunted growth, spots on leaves, wilting and yellowing of leaves, less yield and death of plant will occur.

The below pictures show the beans plant heavily affected by aphids.

Aphids can be controlled by introducing natural enemies into garden like lady bug beetle and parasitic wasps. Lady bug beetle can be found in action in below photos.

Biological Controlling of Aphids

Aphids can be controlled by herbal decoctions prepared using ingredients we found easily.

Mixing sour butter milk with asafoetida and dilute in water. Foliar spray the solution on the plant. Repeat the spray every 3 days till the pest is removed. Another herbal decoction is Agni astram, which is commonly used by the farmers who practice natural farming or SPNF model by Subash Palekar.
